10 Dec 08, 6th Chapter Meeting@Dover

Toastmaster of the Evening
Theresa was the host for the meeting, giving her take after each speech is presented.

President's Address
Lye Sum made reference to 3 ladies who seemed not to be fluent in English but impressed him with their use of Language. He understood that they practiced & worked on proper use of English Language. Similarly, we should work & practice what we have learned in Toastmasters which might be difficult at first but we should aspire on.

Word of the Day
Merry
--- Language Evaluator, Siva (ITE TMC)

Memory Lane
James, our Charter President, gave an account on how the Club was first formed. He engaged the help of his schoolmate Patrick Oei (Sponsor & Mentor) to set up the Club & his friends in ITE to form the charter strengh of 20 members.

The first demo meeting was held on Fri 13 Oct 2002@ITE Yishun & ITE Toastmasters Club was chartered on 15 Dec 2002.

To guide us thru his Toastmasters journey, he used the following:
a) Unconscious Incompetence
b) Conscious Incompetence
c) Conscious Competence
d) Unconscious Competence - when he completes 30 speech projects (ACG)

He told a story of how the men from a boat seemed to be able to walk on water because they knew where the rocks were.
His greatest joy was growing in speaking & leadership skills.

Kay Teck, who was Club President after James, recalled his school days where he had stage fright during a storytelling competition despite being well prepared.
We must be willing to take the 1st step & it will change our life. Toastmasters certainly has transformed his life & glad to be on this journey of enhancing one's communication & leadership skills.

Prepared Speeches
