5th Chapter Meeting at Bishan Campus

The theme of the meeting was "Candle Consumes Itself to Give Light to Others".

Lye Sum was the Toastmaster of the Evening.
He skilfully led the audience through the meeting with witty sense of humour.

Immediate Past President R Sivananthan announced the receipt of an Trophy for Select Distinguished Club Award for term 2009/2010. He thanked the members for all the hardwork to achieve the award.

Richard Lam was the Language Evaluator. He introduces the word of the day "Creative" for members to use throughout the meeting.

Table Topics

Poh Lian was the Table Topics Master. She lets members to choose a random item from a bag and talk about it in relation to the theme.

Gerald conducted Table Topics Evaluation to give pointers for members how to do table topics better.

Prepared Speeches:

Nicodemus(P7): He talks about the general structure of movies (How a hero is born, hero meets his companions, hero meets obstacles with companions help, hero's death and resurrection.)

Ho Peng(P10): He talks about the circle of influence and circle of concern using Stephen Covey's 7 habits of effective people.

Speech Evaluation:

Faizah evaluated Nico's P7 and JJ Ri evaluated Ho Peng's P10. Richard Lam, being Language Evaluator, points out the good uses and misuses of language and recommended improvements.



Siva was the Ah Counter, he reports the pause fillers used by members during this meeting. Kay Chuan was the timer, to ensure that members speak within time limit.

The Chapter Meeting ends at 9.45pm.
