Acting President's Address
Siva, on behalf of President who is away on overseas assignment, gave the opening address. He addressed the theme "Learning is a treasure which accompanies its owner everywhere". Cited an example about how a newborn giraffe learns its first lesson. Just after birth, the mother giraffe would kick at her calf. If it doesn't get up, the violent process is repeated over & over again. Finally, the calf stands for the first time. The mother giraffe kicks it off its feet again. Why? She wants it to remember how it got up. In the wild, baby giraffes must be able to get up quickly to stay with the herd, where there is safety.
